Tech ran water into the drain to verify that it was working properly, but forgot to replace the washing machine line afterward. It took two seconds for me to set in place, but would have been a big mess if I hadn't happened to look.
Drain for washing machine was backed up and dumping water on floor. Called around 11am on a Wednesday. Roto-Rooter arrived around 2:30pm same day and snaked the drain in less than an hour.
$110 might not be the rock-bottom price for rooting one drain, but it's sure a lot cheaper than dealing with a flood. Technician did not volunteer a quote ahead of time, but I didn't ask for one either.
